CEQA post-approval monitoring
At the end of the year 2000, the County Board of Supervisors directed the Planning Office to create a more systematic Post Approval Monitoring process - determining whether a project with an approved permit actually implemented the conditions of that permit in an adequate fashion.
The Planning Office works with project applicants to ensure that they implement the conditions of approval required by individual project approvals. One example of how the County monitors the way in which project applicants implement these post-approval requirements is the Stanford University General Use Permit monitoring program. The County publishes annual reports that summarize compliance by Stanford with the General Use Permit conditions of approval and with mitigation monitoring and reporting requirements (see Stanford MMRP link below).
