Geographic Information Services

The Geographic Information System (GIS) Team in the Department of Planning and Development maintains geographic data of the County and produces interactive and reference maps for public reference. Each interactive map has a specific function and aims to help the user understand the County as a whole or a particular piece of real property. Additionally, most of the data in which these interactive maps are built is available for download for public use.

The GIS Team provides theme-based interactive mapping applications. These applications include the Department’s all-inclusive Interactive Property Assessment map, Development Proposals map, and maps that highlight Flood and Geologic Hazards.

You can download the GIS data from the following categories:

  • Planning related (General Plan, Zoning Districts, Open Space Easement Parcels, etc.)
  • City and Special District boundaries (City Limits, Sanitary Districts, Water Districts, etc.)
  • Natural hazards (State Earthquake Fault Zones, State Seismic Hazard Zones, County Landslide Hazard Zones, etc.)
  • Environmental (County Soil)

Our reference maps are useful for many purposes; however, by their very nature, they are static and are at risk of being outdated. These maps are refreshed periodically. Always confirm your understanding of any particular reference map by using either an interactive map or checking in with the Planning Office.
